math and Art Practical - Day 3

Day 3. processing

First, I use magazines to make tree branches and ground.

Second, I use colored paper to make tree leaves and grass.

math and Art Practical - Day 2

Day 2. build the collage

After we have all the material, starting to think the shape to be make. there are many shapes that we can build it such as tree, flower, car, dog, bag, and so on. My design is make a shape as tree.

* first, we cut the paper in randomly shape. ( rectangle, parallelogram, triangle, etc)

* second, stick and paste it in the right position.

* thirdly, keep paste them until it becomes tree.

reminder: don't paste same paper in same location. It might look one paper paste it straightaway.

- the smaller you cut, a beautiful image will become.

Math and Art Practical - Day 1

Day 1. gathering all the material

My project is collage. the collage is one of the synthetic cubism which dismantle one piece into various geometrical shape and re-assemble randomly. the material I am going to use is:

* scissor
* glue
* A2 sized canvas
* magazines or other paper to be cut

Aural terrain - Live Performance

22 October 2010, Friday

So, today is a day we are going to perform in front of audience in art gallery building. The actual performance starts at 5pm so, we have a lot of time to discuss more about our project. Zoe said that we have to be in that building by 4 pm to set everything up. When the time passes 4:50pm, audiences start to come and join our performance. I am too nervous when I am performing in front of people but, I change my mind not to get nervous. We watched performance as Dylan is host of this audio performance. We had perform nearly last and we did it awesome. By end of performance, our teammates have smiling on their face and hopefully we get a high mark on this course. I would like have many thanks to my team members: Robin Tey, Yoshin Naidoo, Versha Naidu.

Aural terrain - Rehearsal

21 October 2010, Thursday

We have a rehearsal today at 12pm in the chroma key room. We are preparing everything but dress. We’ve keep think about costume but, no one care about it. When demonstrate it, there are not much people have dressed. Before prepare to perform, we check everything that where is the cord and devices. We demonstrate at second of last so our team had some time to discuss more.

Our team have a bit nervous but, we are well-perform. I believe we did it great and have good commutation devices. I am waiting for the real performance tomorrow with no nervous.

first, Robin start texting to our phone. after that, the signal from texting coming out to the big speaker. Yoshin press speech of the laptop to say robotic 'message received'. and then, me and Versha start the music loudly. I am a leader of whole music so I have to control the rhythm. while the music is perform, Yoshin keep speeches the laptop 'digital communication', 'technology' and so on. we slightly drop the volume after 3 minutes. then stops everything.

Aural terrain - Pitch In

19 October 2010, Tuesday

This is the last week of Aural Terrain. Last weekend, we've all researched what devices would be goods for communicating each other. Yoshin bring his laptop, Robin is preparing for the texting, Versha bring small speaker and her circuit board, and I bring turntable. We already pitch in to Zoe about our idea. Yoshin was trying to use his laptop for speeches robotic voice-over sound for the background of our project. When Versha's speaker plugged in, the electronic vibrating sound is comes out. Robin is keep texting our phones to ringing the message sound. And I scratch my LP with using turntable because the sound is too musical if I just play the turntable.

Zoe also agrees to use the turntable. Also, Yoshin use his laptop to make a 3-time beeping sound. this sound is comes out when the mobile phone is near to the speaker then receive any text or call from someone. Before choosing the turntable, we think to using typewriter. However, there are no place sell the typewriter. we booked a Chroma key room from 12-1pm. we only have one hour to practice it so we are rush to set all things up and start to practice. However, we had a less time so we choose to visit Yoshin's house and continue practice it. We discuss rhythm and other sound effect later.

math and art essay

0947214 - Daniel Lee

Math and art argumentative essay

In this essay, we will determine the cubism based on the math and art. The math and art have two separate cultures. However, we could identify the link connection between math and art. We could easily find the mathematical principles by through the use of pitches, scales, geometry, the golden ratio, Fibonacci number and so on. This essay will demonstrate relationship mathematics and art and share in order to find and add discoveries and fabrications.

Paintings of this century are usually readily identifiable as belonging to some art movement, or "school" such as Fauvism, Cubism, Surrealism, and Action Painting. The movement, which comprises attitudes shared by artists in more or less organized contact with one another, as well as technical devices related to those attitudes, blends into or supersedes the stylistic heritage of a city or region; instead of "the Venetians" or "the Flemish School," our era presents practitioners of esthetic "ism".

First, we need to focus on is the analytic and synthetic cubism. The analytic phase was the earlier of the two occurring from 1908 to1912. In analytic cubism, artists restricted their use of color. They favored a more monochromatic style of painting. Gray, back, blue, and brown were some of the more common hues. Natural objects were analyzed by the artist and then reduced to basic geometric forms like spheres, cues, and cones. The one of the famous analytical cubism is Braque woman. This artwork is fully descripted with many different shapes such as book, woman, and guitar. And it only uses monochrome. It describes in the way of looking an object with different angle and then synthesize into one. However, it is hard to synthesize the broken forms into one single form. Especially, it gets even harder to represent emotional feeling of the object. In addition, the analytical cubism cannot draw one perfect form of shape when represent the one single form to overlooked in one direction.

The synthetic cubism is much more developed from an analytical cubism. The second major branch, synthetic cubism, was developed from 1912 to 1919. While analytic cubism broke down subject matter, synthetic cubism combined and layered the subject matter. Artists like Picasso also incorporated the collage into their artwork. Actual newspaper clippings were pasted on the canvas. Objects from the real world became art itself for the first time. Simple geometric shapes were used to a lesser extent than in analytic cubism. Unlike analytic cubism, the synthetic cubism creates a new picture which combines abstract structure and actual form. In other words, synthetic cubism is compromised analytical cubism while maintaining the form. After that, the small analytical forms are disappeared and create huge geometrical forms. So the synthetic cubism is easy to synthesize the broken forms into one single form. The most famous painting technique is the ‘papiers colle’. It is type of collage which paste piece of flat material such as paper, oilcloth, and newspaper. In addition, the flat material is different form of geometrical shape. This painting is easy to represent emotional feeling depends on the color and form of shape.

Many of Picasso's pictures may look strange. This is because Picasso showed many different views of a person or an object at the same time. He drew the front and the side of a face in the same picture. His artistic style is called cubism. In the early 20th century in Europe, many artists were turning away from traditional painting and were struggling to produce more innovative and unique works. For some of them, innovation itself was a goal. This trend greatly influenced Picasso, Picasso created a new art movement called cubism. Many critics and viewers often misunderstood early cubist paintings. However, the cubist movement in painting had a major influence on Western art and artists. The analytic and synthetic cubism is same art work. In other word, the analytic cubism is revolved to synthetic cubism. Both artworks are very similar to each other but, have different meaning. I think analytic cubism feels dark, puzzled, and lonely while synthetic cubism feels bright, harmonious, and meaningful.

The cubism and modern art are similar to each other. The modern art have various abstract artwork. The cubism is to prove how simplicity can still be used to great effect as opposed to complex structuring. When used to its fullest extent that style can surpass the elegance of even photo realistic portraits. He succeeded. The actual style is not what is important; it is the success of it. Other artists’ centuries before had made cubist works, even if they did not realize it. But the cubist movement is important because people saw it. The modern art and cubism does not tell the story

We could find similar point between cubism and abstract art. Abstract art is a more general term that encompasses, but is not limited to, Cubist art. Abstract art is really any art that is not directly and intentionally representational, or art which seeks to only loosely represent the object being painted. Abstract art is fine art that may or may not visually reference the real world but that may often not be identified as referencing anything at all. Its distinguishing characteristics are its lack of resemblance or lack of accurate resemblance to objects in real life. Abstract art does not define artistic credos or intentions. Abstract art covers a range of movements that all applied their own specific artistic values, methods and beliefs. For example, the Cubist painters were striving to emphasize the two-dimensionality of the canvas, rather than the three-dimensional quality of the objects they were painting.

In conclusion, the cubism was the best abstract artwork in 20th centuries. The Cubism breaks up objects and displays them rearranged at unnatural or impossible angles, displays multiple views of objects or flattens three-dimensional objects to a pointedly two-dimensional format. Cubism is fundamentally striving to present objects from reality in abstracted form. The analytical cubism more likely uses 3-D shape with restricted color (monochrome) while the synthetic cubism uses 2-d shape with various colors. Therefore, in my creative practice of collage will be demonstrate that how does the collage painting relate to abstract artwork. However, the artwork will perform limited amount of material (newspaper, magazine) to make audience not confuse.

Aural terrain - Developing Idea

14 October 2010, Thursday

Zoe refuses our ideas because the metal sheet is a real instrument. We have to make something is not instrument. So, we've decide to choose another idea called 'communication'. The 'communication' means that we are going to communicate with digital sound. And express each different types of electronic sound are communicate each other. Our initial idea was simple communicate with using circuit boards, mobile phone, and vocal with using microphone. The device is undeveloped but we want to tell audience that this is the communication between different electronic sounds. Yoshin and Robin are using the circuit board and I am vocal. And Versha is texting anybody and join the message sound into communication. However, our team needs to develop a lot.

Aural terrain - produce idea

13 October 2010, Wednesday

This is the last project about the sound and it has presentation/performance. In this project, I can work either alone or group but I decide the group. The group is easier and can help each other when one of my team is lost. So, this project was me, Robin They, Versha Naidu, and Yoshin Naidoo. First, we think any ideas to discuss. I give an idea called vibration on the metal sheet. It present the different pattern of flour depends on the tones of sounds. On the metal sheet, put the flour on it. And use violin stick to scratch the edge of sheet metal. If the tone is high, the patterns look different. And if the tone is low, other different patterns of flour would produce. We decide this idea for now and continue discuss tomorrow.

Circuit Binding - Final day

8 October 2010, Friday
This is the final day of circuit bending project, presentation. James put all students into group randomly and present with their circuit. My group is Charlotte, Brandon, and me. We’ve discussed who will be start first and how we present better. Because no one wants the sound is random and huge sound mixed each other with no ordering.

We discussed that Brandon start first, and charlotte and me catching up. After that, charlotte stops her circuit and help Brandon to make sound different. And I am continued to present my circuit but make a sound different when her circuit was stop.
At the end of the presentation, I felt that we can make music with these sound. Most music have so many instrument and trying to compare to sound better. The circuit board is much worse than actual music when compare it. However, even circuit board can make rhythm, tone, and music. Also, it will change people's emotion.

Circuit Binding - Day 3

7 October 2010, Thursday

Simon teaches a new circuit with using a prototype board. Unlike the bread board, the prototype board represents way different sound. As I said before, the bread board circuits will sounds as similar as the computer error sound. The prototype board can wave a sound. However, prototyping is hard to make it because we need to use the solder to build a circuit. I was trying to build the prototype circuit. However, once I finished it, it won't work. Therefore, I give up making a prototyping and going with a bread board. It has restricted sound but, works great. The group presentation is tomorrow so, I am going to prepare it and double check the circuit not to break it.

Circuit Binding - Day 2

6 October 2010, Wednesday

Today, I've finished building the bread board and readying for the testing. When the battery have installed, it work perfectly fine (thank god!). The sound is similar to the computer error sound when start up the computer. Also, the tone of the sound will high and low by changing the resistor. The sound amplifier is really strong and sounds only one tone. I think I have to develop more.

Circuit Binding - Day 1

5 October 2010, Tuesday

After the sound walk is finish, the next project is pops up. This time, we are actually building a circuit board to making a sound. A lecture named Simon Cummings was explained about circuit board and how does it make a sound. First, use the bread board to build the circuit. Simon gives us basic piece such as LED, resistor, and sound amplifier. But, need to go to the electronic shop called Surplustronic and buy other material: the bread board, prototype board, battery and so on. Simon already gives us the printout which drawing of a circuit we are going to build. Once I bought all the material, start to build my circuit. I hope the circuit working perfectly. I brought the circuit and build at home.

project 2 - Mapping Sound (day 3)

1 October 2010, Friday

Today we have to finish everything include ongoing document, blog, group and individual sound of music and burned Audio CD. We are starting to present on 12pm, so everything must finish before 12pm. I was finished my individual project already but need to do journal and blog. I and my team rushed to finish everything and prepare for the presentation. The presentation has started in the Chroma key room at 2pm. our team don't want to go at last so, we decide to present first.

Basically, our team project is to listen and think difference between natural and industrial sound. At the starting of the music, we put natural and industrial together to express the difference. After that, we bring up the both sounds one at a time. After 45 seconds passed, we changed to the natural sound and drop the volume slightly.

In my individual project is same meaning but way different of the team project. I start with bird sound and compare and mix the sound but only use natural sound. And I stopped the music and pause 2 second. Then, I start the industrial sound with starting up the vehicle's engine. The industrial sound and it reaches unto nearly end. At the end, I put the elevator with sounds 'Let's stopping ground floor'.

Once all presentation have finished, I upload the original sound we've used. Also, I visit the Aporee Website to upload original sound to actual place for requirement.

project 2 - Mapping Sound (day 2)

28 September 2010, Tuesday
Our main idea is a comparing between Natural and Unnatural sound. In the world, we could easily huge different sounds. Some sounds is silent and soft, and some other sound is rough and high volume. The examples of soft sound is a bird and river, and the rough sound is a construction site and inside food court. In this exercise, we are going to determine and express a difference between natural sound and man-made sound.

The first class of this week, we discuss that what location we can record. There are hundreds of other places that we can easily record such as:
* Bus Station * Restaurant
* Train Station * Food Court
* Ferry * Car Parking
* Park * Elevator
* Bridge * Library
* Beach * Construction Site
*etc.

Once we decide what to do, talk to the Zoe to hire the sound recorder. This device is called Zoom H4n which detects and record any sound and noise. I'll never know that this device is so amazing. Once I plug into my ears, I can hear even tiny sound such as whispering. In addition, this device is so delicate. The same sound could hear differently when I put device to different location such as up or bottom, left or right.

When the sound device is fully recharged, we've been many different places outside of studio. We went and record in Albert Park, construction site, metalwork shop, bridge which connects between Albert Park and AUT, pedestrian cross, car parking, and bus station and so on. There so much different place we can record. After recording both natural and industrial sound, we came back to the studio and sort all the sound we've recorded. After that, we leave the rest for tomorrow.

Project 2 - Mapping Sound (day 1)

24 September 2010, Friday

We've started a new exercise called Sound Walk. In this exercise, we will be utilizing and developing the listening skills learnt at the end of last week. It will be recorded with using Zoom H4n digital recorder. First, we need to know about audio culture. The audio culture is a diverse group of art practices that considers wide notion of sound, listening, and hearing as its predominant focus. It has filtered into many everyday aspects of society such as TV, film and video games. Also it can be explored our everyday environment, from machine to weather.
From this exercise, we need to a team to work as group.

First, take a Zoom H4n recorder to certain location which needs to record. The location should be each different place and recorded each different time. Second, keep recording until the battery is run up. Whenever we record the sound long or short, we will use the program called audacity to edit a recorded sound and making a new sound up to 3 minutes. While the recording is process, be careful of any noises around the sound recorder. Because the recorder records everything include noise.

And then as I said above, we need to edit the sound and make it about 3 minutes long. Also have to make individual and group audio. We use audacity which very easy to edit and export to mp3 files.
Today, I decide to make a team:
* Robin Tey
* Daniel Lee(me)
* Versha Naidu
* Yoshin Naidoo
After making a team, we've decide research more about Mapping sound and audio culture. And think of how we going to record and edit it. And we decide to continue discuss on next Tuesday.

Semester 2 - experimental film 1

Experimental Film – International art festival

Hilary Harris – Organism (1929 – 1999)

the movie called ‘Organism’ is directed by Hilary Harris who was winner of Academic Award documentary filmmaker. The film which won the Academy Award is ‘Seawards the Great Ships’ shows in 1962. Also, Organism wins Academy Award and shot over 15 years. it shows that how people live in the city life with many different point of view. He pioneered and time-lapse film making technique to shot a unique experimental point of view.

The beginning of this story is the city around the world which usually take in rush hour. And it shots in New York city. This film show us a lot of things. It shows that people walking on pedestrian cross, driving vehicles, construct and deconstruct buildings and so on. Also, it shows sunset and sunrise in the city. After that, the scene is keep changing but the concept is same. After that, the film controls the speed up and down.

The soundtrack in this film is perfect match to the scene. This film doesn’t have speech at all. So, the music will changes as the scene change. if there is no music, it look like a random video with no meanings. However if the sound is enable, it change the viewer’s emotion.

After I end this film, I felt that ‘this is the perfect match of the project’. It shows different angles of camera to change the viewer’s feeling. The one we’ve looking something is not all. We can watch same thing in many different ways.

cinema Flaneur - Day 8 filming

11 August 2010, Wednesday

With the presentation of our research and theory over and done with it was time to really put our rig to the test through actual filming. So we did just that today. Walking around as a group and using our rig we each got a chance to use the rig to do portions of filming each. Because of our rig's design we had to go around the city locating suitable rails, curves and edges for the rig to ride. And by the day's end we got a reasonable amount of footage prepared for editing once the chance comes. after that, we've trying to find anywhere that has a pole which our design can ride it.

me and Jack have finished our design. and all parts work great but the back wheel. if the design runs a lot, the wheel would be take it off by loosing the screw. so, I decide to use the washer and put right next to the wheel which helps to move a wheel smoothly and easily. without back wheel, our design runs perfectly.

today is start to prepare making our design. unfortunately, we've got problem about our design. James will give restricted amount of material to build the design. Our design is too big and lots of material will be need. and then we've start to think disadvantage of our design. we have so much disadvantage such as, weight, unstable, lot of material and so on. therefore, we've decide do change our design.

cinema Flaneur - Day 4

29 July 2010, Thursday

we've chosen the topic so, all we need to do is design and modeling our idea. we've think to tied up as bag and place two cameras which one is irhgt way and the other one is upside down. this should well'explain about our main idea: reverse world. also, we place a belt around the stomach to make sure that the camera won't move.

2010년 7월 26일 월요일

cinema Flaneur - Day 3 main idea

26 July 2010, Monday

We've finally choose the main idea. our idea is a reverse world. The idea that we’re going to represent is the perception of two separate worlds in a single. This concept originated from the idea that every human is born into the world viewing it upside down. But as we accustom to the dark, we accustomed to the light of the world as it reflected images through our eyes right side up.If the world was never reflected the right side up would anything be any different? Or simply… Would a reverse world become the norm and a world the right side up be the exception?..

This is why we represented two images of the same world with different views, using the concept of mirror imaging and reflection.

today, I've been in the 3-d Lab. this place is where we going to make our design. there are so much tools we can use. however, this place is not big as other workshop, so this place can only allow 2 people fabricator and fabricator assistance. I was look all the tools and think which tools are we going to use it. I was thinking that we going to have a meeting when I came to the studio but, only I attend that day. so, I leave it and discuss tomorrow. our team member is : Robin They, Moke Xu, Jack Yang, and Daniel Lee(me). also, they have each roles of this project.

Cinema Flaneur - Day 1

21 July 2010, Wednesday

today We came here to introduce and discuss what we've thinking in the night. there are various ideas have come. we decide to making a railway and put camera opposite sideway to perform different angle. in this design, we still thinking about making a bag to tied up to the shoulder. and another way is that make as a kart to roll it. kart is way easier because is has a shell in front of kart so, it is easy to carry around and easy to capture any video.

we learned about solid work. this program is that it helps to design our model in rule 3-d shape. the program is quite a complicate to work on. but, we will do our best.

8-events : Summative Statement

In this year, this year has a lot of events happened. from 8 events, the most interesting event is helping my friend to do the programming. watching movie and visit somewhere is more interesting than programming. but, I learned a lot of things from this programs.

I am studying in creative technology. this program teaches how to making movie, games, and so on. With my friend, I learned the program called 'MAYA Autodesk'. This program tells us that how to make 3D character such as transformer, avatar, terminator and so on. however, the program is so hard to control everything even professional people cannot control them all. I studied too but, can only make simple animal to move around.

The movie also tells us lot of things. the movie'Iron Man 2' tells us this graphic is not end. it means we can keep develop the graphic even much better than the 'Iron Man 2' on the future.

The real art is the one of best ideas to learn. If you look at the Hamilton garden, you will think different. The garden is one of the nature art. To make a graphic better, you will go and have a look around the outside.

In conclusion, you cannot learn everything only using the computer. I learned a lot from the outside rather than inside. My events is not end. I am going to visit a lot of places to gain knowledges.

8-events : (8) Help my parants work

last monday, I helped my parents work. my parents are doing school cleaning. its really hard job but, my parents are don't feel hate it. I don't want my parents look tired so, usually I go and help my parents. the school cleaning is very hard job such as vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning toilet and so on. my father usually did vaccuming and my mother cleaned toilet. I empty rubbish bin and sweeping the floor. also, there are more than 30 classes include hall. it is too hard to do it. but, most of people usually go home and doing nothing. it means that people make their body unhealthy. the cleaning is a hard job but, it makes me healthy.

8-events : (6) visit Hamilton Garden (7) make a small promotion video

Last year, I visit the Hamilton garden. In Hamilton garden, they import and remake other country's garden such as Japan, Indonesia, China and so on. I looked around it and it is almost similar to their countries. also, the walkway is so beautiful. flowers had bloom all around walkway which means that the smell is very good. it may feels relax. but, the garden designed too big so, many people are tired to walk all the way around. so, it should to make things more smaller or rent the small car or people may complain it. I think most people will think that its a bit hard to walk around it.

yesterday, I help my friend to make his promotion video. my friend had a homework to making a 3d- movie. in this homework, he used the final cut studio and maya autodesk. the maya program is very hard to control it. the maya program usually use professional people. even the transformer designer used it. when I trying to use this program, it has too many things to control. the maya has every single joint program so it is very hard memorize and control it. however, this program makes me study well. the video makes not very good but, me and my friend are very interest it.

8-events : (5) play golf in Akarana golf club

I played golf with my father at April. I've learned it so not too hard to play it. In the golf club, it is incredibly big. if I play it all around every week, i feel very tired. I really think that I need small car. also, the course is too hard to play. when I was beginner, I shoot always into the river, the OB, even other people's hole and so on. I was too bad at that time but, the course is also too hard to play beginners. however, it makes people to adventure. some people like to play hard course. on the other hand, the bad thing in this golf club is that not very good service. east few years, the staff gave us towel and shower articles to use fore shower before. but, there are not give it to us. I knew that they trying to save the money but, the people may feel unpleasant.

8-events : (4) work in the restaurant

I was used to work in the restaurant for few months at dannys. My family usually come to eat. It is very hard to work in the weekend but, it is very fun. in this restaurant, there are special events called 'birthday party special'. in addition, when someone comes for a birthday party, they can buy second expensive food for free. but, the dannys is the family restaurant. so, in this restaurant, the people around is noisy. I don't think it is a best place to eat if couples eat. also, the design in this restaurant is too normal. some restaurants are fully and well-decorated. this makes people feel happy. if the inside design is more shiny, the people will love it. My familly usually eat stake and beef ribs. The other food is also delicious but, these two foods are so great.

8-events : (2) went the Bay of Island , (3) went Auckland Museum

Last month, I went the bay of island with my family. This place is very pretty and wonderful place I've ever been anywhere in the world. I did boat tour in there. The weather is a little a bit cloudy but, I did a great tour. while touring, I looked wonderful places such as natural cave, small mountain and so on. I thought I look the computer graphic. It was so beautiful. In addition, the beach also beautiful. there are small toilet the house beside the beach is almost looks great and expensive. however, when its raining, Its really hard to tour. because the boat is only ride in outside. its really great if the boat also make inside as well.

I went the Auckland museum with school friends. I haven't been there sin I was in the grammar school. when I've been there on the last week, there are a lot of change happens. I am very impressive of the museum.there are many section such as insect, animal, dinosaur, and so on. one of the very interesting section is the world war section at the top floor. I really like to look something very enjoyment. the design inside the museum also well cleared. because some other museum look untidy and dizzy when trying to look around. the museum is so great.

8-events : (1) watching movie in St.Lukes

I watched the movie called 'Iron Man 2' in the St.Lukes on last week. Last year, I watch very interesting of the 'Iron Man 1'. so, I was expect to watch this movie. after I've seen this movie, I feel average.

First, the graphic is awesome. I already expect that the graphic will be incredibly great. but, I don't expect that great. It never missed a single minor effect in this movie. It presents more than reality. most of people were impressed of the graphic.

on the other hand, I was very disappoint of the storyline. If I am looked at only the story, it is not too bad. but, in this movie, they lack of making story rather than computer graphic. most people look graphics instead of the storyline. but, if the story also interesting, the movie will be much better than before.

Flip Book - Eraser Accident by Car

The Flip book which we did at the start of this project. This is actually the eraser hitting by car and fly to the house wall.

Project 3 - video demostration ( 22th May)

Project 3 - Change the Topic (17th~21st May)

We spend too much time on this one program. so, we decide to change the new topic with same meaning and different programming.

1. change the ideas and program

2. Summerize all the ideas that we did in past 2 weeks

3. prepare for the presentation ( 18th May)

4. Main point we will going to focus

5. Finallize all the project.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- we give it up to doing head tracking. because we don't want to hold this one program and spend rest of the time to kepp finding errors. so, we change the topic and program from this to:

* Head Tracking ---> Color Tracking
* Processing ---> Maxmsp

- we use the James's example from autonline to doing color-tracking. it is pointless to use his example with any development. so, me and Tyrone going to edit more code to buid up our own program.

- Our main point in this project is curiosity. the word curiosity means that make people curious of what we will going to present. The character we used is the box with flat white colour. and the background would be sea, sky, grass, and normal life of human. The interaction between these two ideas is that the box could interact the background to make people surious of what things are going to be inside the box. for, example, if we tring to use background sea, the inside the box could be tresure, rubbish, and so on. and the word curiosity is the box could make people curious of what things sould be inside by change its background.

- we finallized all the project and write up the short persentation.

Project 3 - Build up the idea (7th~14th May)

After we did that, we will going to do:

1. Get the character we will going to use.

2. Improve the character.

3. Think of other ideas

4. build the character

5. think of how could it interact.

------------------------------------------------------------

- The character we will think of is the Skeleton man, Ninja eraser, Kung-Fu rat and so on. we thinked more but, the main character we discussed is these three characters.

- There are many different ways to improve characters. for example, the Skeleton man could stick and breack of his joints, dancing, change its emotion and so on. In addition, ninja man can erase the screen with using his head, throwing weapon, change its size and so on.

- The other ideas we sould think is the background, characteristic, story, and how we going to interact. first, we found the Head-Tracking in VR display from johnny Lee's wii-project. this can acually see at the back of the image because of the 3D- display. this program will use the 'Processing' to make all things work.

- we keep research about the character and programs. Robin's got many different rsearchof character of developing the idea.

- We tried the interacted berween background and the shape with using head tracking.

Project 3 - Serious Fun (Before it starts)

We started the new project called 'Serious Fun'. and the topic is 'The Interaction'. the interaction is the action which interact two or more objects have an effect upon one another. The Things we goind to do before it start is:

1. Project Team: Work in project teams up to 4 people.

2. breif: Make an artwork in which the audience playfully interacts with the content to reveal "meaning".

3. Name your group.

4. Make an separate role(such as who is the programmer and who is the idea creater and so on).

------------------------------------------------------

- The groups of our team:

* Tyrone Tangata-Makiri

* Jack Yang

* Robin Tey

* Daniel Lee(me).

- Name our group : Modern.

- Separate role

* Tyrone = Interaction Designer

* Robin = Creative Director

* Jack = Researcher and ideas man

* Daniel = Programmer

Project 2 - Making Project (Continue)

To do:

1. make the battery pocket.

2. connect to the keyboard with hack.

3. Test everything.

Right: Middle: Left:

- Battery Pocket have to make smaller which it will right fitting.
- Keyboard need to connect to program with using max/msp.

Project 2 - Making Project

To do:

1. make the patterns.

2. Fabric buttons at the back of the patterns

3. Connect the wire to the each of the LEDs at the Parallel circuit.

4. Connect the battery holder.

- The image of the pattern is Fire and Water wave and fabric each side of the scarf. also, fabric at the middle of the scarf (zig-zag pattern).
- buttons will hold the LED stronger and don't move around easier. after fit the LED into the button, fold legs which it cannot move anymore.
- parallel circuit drains battery much fater than series circuit. but, the brightness is much brighter.
- battery holder must connect parallel circuit. because, if it connects as series circuit, whole light will gone when one light is fault.

Project 2 - Get the Material

we need:
- LED - wires
- Soler - keyboard with hacked
- battery AA Cell (coin Battery) - thread
- Buttons - plain
- Scarf

* Get the LED as many as possible. one or two LEDs are not bright.

Project 2 - Human Computer Interface

Human Computer Interface: Wearable Garments.

There are heaps of wearable garment such as:

- cloth - Gloves
- scarf - Sunglasses
- shoes - Electronic Devices
- Socks - hat or cap and so on.

I choose: Scarf.

Reason:
* Easy to build the Design.
* The winter come soon.
* It looks cool.
* Less battery need.

Project 1 - Lego (6)

The result of the drawing machine:

- the First materal : drink satchet

- The Second Material : painting ink

* Performing the machine: *

- The Second drawing : Painting Ink -

Project 1 - Lego (5)

Other Accessary:

- The Brush: put under the spinning sweeper which it will swipe the ground when it moves.

- Drink Satchets: the one kind of the drawing material. dropping the water will make it's color.

- Glow Stick: One of the performance of the machine. fitted to tyres.

-Laser Light and Cotton ball: The Laser light is another performance of the machine and the cotton ball is the other kind the dawing materials with using the paint ink.

- The Field:

- we used the boxes to making the wall, and using the gib board at the ground.
- in the middle, we put A2 sized canvas in the centre of the field to make the machine starts to drawing it.
